
Goaltender Michaud, Rookie Center Kasper Return from Worcester

Peoria, Ill. (February 26, 2005) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that sixth-year goaltender Alfie Michaud and rookie center Kris Kasper have been reassigned back from the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate â the Worcester IceCats.
Michaud â a 5-foot-10, 177-pound native of Selkirk, Manitoba â posted his second win for Worcester this past Thursday, stopping 18 of 19 shots in a 3-1 home win over the San Antonio Rampage. In two appearances with the IceCats this year, the 28-year-old has a 2-0-0-0 record with a 1.50 goals against average (GAA) and a .930 save percentage. With three shutouts and three one-goal games in his last 15 Rivermen appearances, the veteran of two NHL games has compiled a 11-1-2 record over the stretch with a 1.50 GAA (21 GA in 839.75 min. played) and a .945 save percentage (361/382). The 2002-2003 ECHL Goaltender of the Year has a 16-8-3 record this season with a 2.04 GAA (2nd in the ECHL), three shutouts and a .929 save percentage.
Kasper â a 5-foot-11, 197-pound native of Gibbons, Alberta â appeared in two games with the IceCats this past Thursday and Friday, registering one shot. On the season with the Rivermen, the 21-year-old pivot has collected 10 points (6g, 4a) and 147 penalty minutes (PIM) in 37 games. He tallied 59 points (31g, 28a) and 258 penalty minutes (PIM) in 56 games over two seasons (2002-2004) with the Tier II Junior "A" Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Saturday, February 26, the Rivermen and the Royals battle again at 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. It is Five-Star Water Night.
