Titans Get Reinforcements

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans announced on Saturday that forward Jeff Smith and defenseman David Printz have been assigned by their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, while defenseman Matt Libby has been returned from the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).

Smith, 24, returns for his third stint with the Titans and the first this season. The third-year pro had registered a goal, 4 assists and 116 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Phantoms this year. Over his previous two seasons of play, Smith has compiled 20 points (8g, 12a) in 82 games with Trenton and 6 points (1g, 5a) in 57 games with Philadelphia (AHL).

Printz, 24, makes his first appearance in a Titans uniform tonight. Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round (#225 overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Printz has notched 4 points (1g, 3a) and 62 penalty minutes over 43 games with the Phantoms in 2004-05. A native of Slona, Sweden, Printz has skated with AIK of the Swedish Elite League and HPK Hameenlinna and Ilves Tampere of the Finnish Elite League (2002-04)

Libby, 26, leads Titans defensemen with 22 points (3g, 19a) over 43 games. After a four-year career at Providence College, Libby joined Trenton for his rookie season in 2001-02. That year the native of Saco, ME registered 28 points (7g, 21a) over 49 games was selected to the Northern Conference All-Star Team and the All-ECHL Rookie Team.

In separate transactions, Matt Zultek has been placed on the 7-day IR while forward Lynn Beedle was waived. Zultek is fourth on the Titans in scoring with 25 points (11g, 14a) in 49 games. Beedle, a native of Bethlehem, PA, was scoreless in six appearances with Trenton.
