February 26, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ – In his first game of the season as a Titan, Jeff Smith scored the game-winning goal, lifting Trenton to a 2-1 victory over the Dayton Bombers in front of 5,564 fans at Sovereign Bank Arena.

Smith struck last for the Titans, but Nick Deschenes struck first. He opened scoring with his 11th goal of the season at 11:10 in the first period. The effort was assisted by Brent Robinson and Scott Bertoli, who both earned their 23rd assists of the season. Deschenes now has 10 points in his last eight games.

Dayton fired back, as Bombers' winger Aaron Foster scored his ninth goal of the season at 2:36 in the second to tie the game. The power play goal was assisted by Scott Cameron and Tyler Scott.

Smith then broke the tie with his first goal in a Titans uniform at 9:16 in the second period. The winger tipped a Michael Schutte slapshot to beat Bombers' goalie Mike Ayers.

That score would turn out to be the game-winner, as neither team scored for the rest of the contest. Andrew Allen stopped 22 Dayton shots to earn his 17th win of the season.

The Titans travel to Johnstown to face the Chiefs on Sunday, February 27 at 3 pm. Tune into to Moneytalk 1350 AM to hear all of the Titans hockey action. Fans can also go to www.trentontitans.com to listen or watch live.
