Titans Nip Bombers, 2-1, Saturday Night

Treton, NJ – The Dayton Bombers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Trenton Titans in front of 5,564 at Sovereign Bank Arena Saturday night. The Bombers are now 1-2-0 on their current 6-game road trip.

The Titans opened the scoring when Nick Deschenes buried his 11th goal of the season at 11:10 of the first period. Then, after referee Pat Britt awarded a penalty shot to Scott Bertoli, Bombers goaltender MIKE AYERS denied the chance and kept Dayton within one, 1-0, at 18:44 of the first period.

The teams exchanged goals in the second period. AARON FOSTER tied the game, 1-1, with a powerplay goal at 2:36. Jeff Brown, who was assigned from the American Hockey League's Philadelphia Phantoms, gave Trenton a 2-1 lead at 9:16 of the second period.

There was no scoring in the third period, and the Titans outshot the Bombers 31-24. Trenton has won the last 6 games in this series, after Dayton won the opener 4-3 in a shootout on November 12th at Sovereign Bank Arena.

The Bombers road trip continues tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they return to Historic Boardwalk Hall on the Jersey shore to face the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Audio coverage begins at 2:00 PM at daytonbombers.com.
