Go-Go to Host Education Day

February 21, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Capital City Go-Go News Release

The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, announced the team will host its inaugural Education Day game on Tuesday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. against the Lakeland Magic at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Over 15 local D.C. area schools and several different children's groups will be in attendance for Tuesday's game, which will use the game of basketball to foster learning. They will be treated to a variety of in-game elements centered around education, as well as appearances from Wizards' mascot, G-Wiz, Washington Mystics' mascot, Pax, Washington Valor mascot, Blitz, and D.C. United mascot, Talon. The Jr. Wizards will also hold a "Hot Shot" shooting contest, where the participant who scores the most points in 30 seconds will win a free scholarship to the 3/13 Jr. Wizards Game Day Clinic, including two tickets to that night's Wizards' game against the Orlando Magic.

All children in attendance will also receive a Go-Go-themed workbook with activities that coincide with the game's events, including a word search and crossword, bingo and a Black History Month matching game. A team poster with the inaugural Go-Go roster folds out on the backside of the workbook. A PDF version of the workbook is attached for viewing.

Head Coach Jarell Christian will address the crowd prior to the game and General Manager Pops Mensah-Bonsu will also be available for comment on the festivities.

Single game tickets to Tuesday's game are available through Ticketmaster, starting as low as $12. More information on group tickets can be found at https://capitalcity.gleague.nba.com/go-go-fan-experience-packages/ or by calling the ticket office at 202-864-4350.
