The Gwinnett Gladiators signed rookie forward Patrick Knowlton on Thursday.

Knowlton, 24, wrapped up a four-year career at Sacred Heart University this season as he scored six goals and added 20 assists in 36 games. The forward totaled 24 goals, 58 assists, and 146 penalty minutes in 131 games with the Pioneers.

The Colorado Springs, CO native had a breakout junior year at Sacred Heart last season, where he ranked third on the team in goals (13), second in assists (26), third in points (39) and was a plus-14. He was voted team captain this season by his teammates.

Prior to his time at Sacred Heart Knowlton played with the Texarkana Bandits for two seasons and was a member of the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs for a year. In 2006-2007 his Monarch team was named EJHL League Champions and Tier III National Champions.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
