
Mike Zacharias Placed on Waivers

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of NHL's Los Angeles Kings, announced that they have placed goaltender Mike Zacharias on waivers and released forward Alex Morton from his amateur tryout agreement.
Zacharias, 25, spent his first professional season (2009-10) with the Reign last year, appearing in 24 games and finishing the season with one assist, a record of 10-6-3, a .894 save percentage, and a goals-against average of 3.28. The Plymouth, Minnesota native started the 2010-11 season with Ontario, but was traded to the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) before appearing in any games with the club. Zacharias played in 20 games with the Steelheads this season, earning a 7-7-2-3 record and recording a 2.73 goals-against average and .907 save percentage before being picked up on waivers by Ontario on January 20. He appeared in 15 games with the Reign this season, earning a 4-9-1-1 record and recording a 3.75 goals-against average and .895 save percentage.
Morton, 23, appeared in three games with the Reign, recording his first professional point with an assist on March 9 against the Idaho Steelheads. Prior to signing an amateur tryout agreement with the Reign on March 9, the left winger from Cannington, Ontario spent four seasons (2007-2010) at SUNY Fredonia. Prior to the Blue Devils, Morton spent two seasons (2005-2007) in the SJHL with the Notre Dame Hounds, where he amassed 52 points (24g, 28a) and 46 penalty minutes in 76 games.
