Salmon Kings Host Third Annual "Eco Night"
March 17, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have partnered with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to present the third annual "Eco Night" this Saturday, March 19th versus the Utah Grizzlies.
Together with the Foundation, the Salmon Kings will make an effort to promote ecological awareness and restoration of Pacific salmon in British Columbia. Advanced tickets are now available for just $18, with $3 from each purchase donated back to the Foundation.
Fans can also receive a great ticket discount just by being eco-friendly and recycling! Anyone who brings a recyclable item by the Select Your Tickets Box Office this Saturday will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket for Eco Night worth $7 off an adult ticket or $4 off any student, senior or child ticket. The Bottle Depot will be on site this Saturday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. collecting all recyclable items.
Additionally, all Chuck-a-Puck proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Foundation. The Chuck-a-Puck promotion will give fans the chance to hit as many as three prize targets on the ice: a getaway fishing package for two to the Queen Charlotte Islands courtesy of West Coast Resorts valued at over $5,000, a Rocky Mountaineer trip to Whistler, and a prize package that includes a low-flow toilet and rain barrel.
Numerous organizations will be in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre concourse on Saturday evening showcasing eco-friendly products and services as well as handing out free gifts. These Eco Night partners include Capital Regional District, VanCity, Accent Inns, Cannor Nurseries, SG Power, Greater Victoria Compost Education Centre and Industrial Paint and Plastics.
The first 2,000 fans into the arena on Saturday night will receive an Eco Night banner clapper printed on recycled paper.
The Pacific Salmon Foundation is an independent non-governmental organization that exists to guide the sustainable future of Pacific salmon and their habitat. The organization is a catalyst that connects and motivates people, communities, organizations and businesses to restore and regenerate Pacific salmon populations in British Columbia and the Yukon. Donations to the Pacific Salmon Foundation support volunteer programs across the province that address salmon conservation and habitat renewal. Since 1989, Pacific Salmon Foundation has provided these groups with $8.8 million for 1,236 projects which was then leveraged locally for a total impact of $64 million for salmon and the environment.
The Salmon Kings continue their three-game set with the Utah Grizzlies tomorrow and Saturday, March 19th at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop for both contests is at 7:05 p.m. For tickets call 250-220-7777 or visit www.selectyourtickets.com.
