Gladiators Receive McLean From AHL Milwaukee

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Mike McLean has been assigned to the team from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. A 25-year-old from Oshawa, Ontario, McLean signed a two-way AHL/ECHL contract with the Admirals in September and appeared in 35 games with their ECHL affiliate Cincinnati Cyclones. McLean was recalled by the Admirals today and was subsequently assigned to the Gladiators.

McLean appeared in 33 games with the Cyclones before being recalled by Milwaukee on January 7th, where he skated in six games and was held scoreless before being reassigned on January 17th. In a total of 35 games with Cincinnati this season, the 6'0" 180-pound forward amassed 10 goals, 11 assists, and 15 penalty minutes.

McLean made his pro debut with the United Hockey League's Kalamazoo Wings in the 2007 playoffs following his junior hockey career, which spanned five seasons, three teams, and two leagues. In 142 total ECHL games since 2007, he has notched 36 goals and 55 assists, while adding 12 points in 31 AHL contests.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Friday, January 29th @ Elmira at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
