Gladiators Have Record Crowds
November 14, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators set a team attendance record for largest combined weekend crowds with a sellout of 11,355 on Friday and a crowd of 8,608 on Saturday night for a combined 19,963 for the weekend.
"There was an electric atmosphere for both of our games this weekend," said Gladiators President Steve Chapman. "There's no doubt that the excitement was felt on the ice and the team responded with two great games. We've received many positive comments from fans who had never been to the Arena before - let alone a Gladiators game - and we believe that the exposure will pay dividends for both the team and the building."
The Gladiators previous record crowd for a pair of weekend games, either a Friday and Saturday night game, a Friday and Sunday night game or a Saturday and Sunday game combined was 14,490 set during the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season. The Gladiators had 6,852 on Friday, January 16, 2004 and 7,638 on Saturday, January 17, 2004 for the previous record.
With two sellouts last season, the Gladiators only played one game on those weekends last year. The first sellout of 11,355 in Gladiators team history was on November 5, 2004 in a 5-1 win over Mississippi while the Gladiators also sold out a 3-2 shootout loss to the Pensacola Ice Pilots on February 5, 2005.
Gladiators mini season ticket packages as well as pro-rated full season ticket plans are still available for the 2005-06 season. Groups of 20 or more can get a special group rate for any remaining home games. Contact the Gladiators ticket sales department at 770-497-5100 for more information..
The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Tuesday, November 15th as they host the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
