San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego Gulls have announced Monday that forward Frantisek Skladany has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters. The Colorado Avalanche, San Diego's NHL affiliate, originally assigned Skladany to the Gulls in early October.
Tomas Slovak, another Colorado prospect, was also re-assigned to Lowell on Saturday.
Skladany, 23, began training camp this season with Colorado and Lowell before being assigned to San Diego on Oct. 6. In nine games with the Gulls this season, he has recorded five points (2g, 3a) and six penalty minutes.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder from Martin, Slovakia spent the majority of last season with the United Hockey League's Quad-City Mallards. In 50 games for Quad-City, Skladany netted 20 points (9g, 11a) while amassing 33 penalty minutes. In 79 professional games, Skladany has notched 25 points (11g, 14a) and 41 penalty minutes.
Skladany, who played for Slovakia at the 2000 World Junior Championships, was Colorado's fifth round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
The Gulls play in Bakersfield Thursday at 7 p.m. before hosting the Condors Friday at the ipayOne Center, with game-time slated for 7:35 p.m. It will be the first "Free Food Friday" and the first 3,500 in attendance will get a free hot dog, in cooperation with Aramark. San Diego goes right back on the road Saturday to take on the Fresno Falcons at 7 p.m. All games can be heard on KLSD 1360AM and www.sandiegogulls.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play.
