
Gladiators clipped by Lynx 3-2

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Despite out shooting the Lynx 49-14, the Gladiators could not get past the Augusta Lynx on Friday night as they dropped a 3-2 in front of 5,095 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators took the lead in the second period with goals by Brad Schell and Kevin Doell. Shell opened the scoring in the game at 4:56 of the second period taking a centering feed from Mike Vigilante and beating Augusta netminder Chad Collins on a break away for the early Gwinnett lead.
Augusta tied the game up at 1-1 less than a minute later on a goal by Jamie Johnson on a deflection in front of the Gladiators net. Joe Markusen took the initial shot from the left wing circle off a feed from Doug Wright to pick up the assists. Kevin Doell regained the lead for the Gladiators tapping a pass from Brad Schell behind Collins. Schell hooked up with Mike Vigilante to pick up the assists on the Gladiator goal at 12:29 of the second period.
Sean Connolly tied the game up for the Lynx in the third period snapping a shot over the shoulder of Berkhoel at 8:04 of the final period. Eric Johansson and Jamie Johnson picked up the assists on the goal.
Augusta took their first lead of the night and the only lead they would need at 14:49 of the third period. Jamie Johansson slipped past the Gladiators defense on a shorthanded break and beat Berkhoel for the game winner unassisted.
Gwinnett went 0-for-5 on the power play while dropping to 35-24-8 on the year as Berkhoel finished with 11 saves in the loss.
