Canzanello Recalled to Cincinnati

BOISE, Idaho — The San Diego Gulls announced Friday that All-Star defenseman Andrew Canzanello has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. This is the second time this season that he has been sent to San Diego's AHL affiliate.

Canzanello, 23, is in his first professional season and notched 20 points (4g, 16a) in 43 games with the Gulls this season. The rookie defenseman was also San Diego's representative at the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game, which was held in January.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 190-pound native of Rochester, Minn. has also appeared in 17 games for Cincinnati this season, registering four assists and 30 penalty minutes.

Canzanello played the last four years for Colorado College, where he averaged 21 points a season. He led Colorado College defensemen with 26 points last season and was also ranked second among blue-liners in 2002-03 with 30 points. During his collegiate stint, he notched 84 points and 168 penalty minutes.

San Diego's next three games are against the Idaho Steelheads. Friday and Saturday's contests will be in Boise, with both games beginning at 6:05 p.m. (PST). The two will square off again in San Diego Wednesday, April 6 at 7:05 p.m. (PDT). It will be the last "Wacky Wednesday" of the season, featuring "Pooch Party III." All fans are invited to bring their dogs to the game!!!
