WHEELING, WV - The Trenton Titans were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory over the Wheeling Nailers in front of 3,000 at WesBanco Arena.
Bo Cheesman broke a scoreless tie for the Nailers with his second professional goal coming at 6:33 of the first period.
The Titans limited Wheeling to just three shots in the second period, as Leon Hayward banged home a rebound past Wheeling goaltender Andy Chiodo to tie the score 1-1 at 14:34.
Trenton used two goals in a thirty-second span to break the game open in the third stanza. With Riley Riddel in the box for Wheeling, Rick Kowalsky tapped Scott Bertoli's cross-ice feed into the open net at 3:39. Just a half of a minute later, Brent Robinson put the Titans up 3-1 with 17th of the season.
Cam Paddock helped his team cut the Titans' lead to one goal with a power play tally at 6:26 of the third, but that's as close as the Nailers would get.
