
Gladiators Bite Lynx, 7-1

Guillaume Desbiens picked up four assists while Pascal Pelletier, Brad Schell and Jeff Campbell each scored twice to help the Gladiators past the Augusta Lynx, 7-1, on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Augusta jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Nicholas Corbeil was able to beat Gladiators netminder Sean Fields catching the goaltender on the far post. Pierre-Alexander Parenteau added an assist on the goal scored 59 seconds into the game.
Steve Slaton scored his 4th goal of the season on the power play 13:24 into the first period. Taking a pass fron Guillaume Desbiens along the goal line, Slaton was able to jam the puck past Augusta netminder Mike Wall from a bad angle. Danny Eberly also picked up an assist on the goal.
Pascal Pelletier gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead taking a pass from Cam Brown and sliding past the Lynx defense and beating Wall for the goal. Eberyl added his second assist of the game on the goal at 17:02 of the opening period.
The Gladiators pushed their lead to 3-1 just 18 seconds later on Brad Schell's 3rd goal of the season. Desbiens fed Schell on the off wing to pick up an assist on the tally. Troy Milam also had a helper on the power play goal.
Pelletier posted his second goal of the game, jamming the puck past Wall off a rink wide pass from Desbiens with 4:49 remaining in the second period. Matt York also had an assist on the goal.
Desbiens picked up his fourth assist as he helped set up Jeff Campbell's first goal of the game 7:57 into the third period. Desbiens' fourth assist tied a Gladiators team record for assists in a game. Campbell deflected Danny Eberly's slapshot from the point past Wall giving the Gladiators a 5-1 lead.
Campbell posted his second goal of the game with a snap shot 35 feet out as he beat Wall over the shoulder. Pelletier and York picked up the assists on the goal 10:44 into the third period.
Brad Schell's second goal of the game finished the scoring three minutes later. Stealing the puck from an Augusta defenseman, Derek Nesbitt and Scott Mifsud hooked up to set up Schell at 13:53 of the third period.
Sean Fields made 21 saves in the win to help the Gladiators improve to 9-5-2 on the season and 20 points.
Gwinnett went 3-for-6 on the power play while not allowing a power play goal for the first time in five games.
