Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx landscape continues to shift today with the announcement that the team has acquired forward Anthony Battaglia, defenseman Chris Leinweber, and future considerations from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for forward Colt King, defenseman Treavor Peterson, and the rights to defenseman Ed Hill.

Battaglia is a familiar name to Lynx fans, having spent the first three of his four years as a pro skating for Augusta rivals the Florida Everblades and Mississippi Sea Wolves. In 216 pro games, the 26-year-old left wing has amassed 63 goals and 126 points, setting career marks in goals, assists, and points each of the last two seasons. With Utah this year, Battaglia had seven goals and 17 points for the club in 21 games. The 6-0, 195 lb. Chicago, Ill. native also skated in nine games for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League in 2002-03, recording no points or penalty minutes.

Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, the 24-year-old Leinweber spent four years at the University of North Dakota, capturing a National Championship in 2000 before turning pro at the end of his senior season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. While with Syracuse, Leinweber appeared in two games with no points or PIMs. The following season he played five games with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL before sustaining an injury that caused him to miss a good portion of the regular season. The 5-11, 185 lb. blueliner finished the year in Johnstown, appearing in 35 games and notching 12 points with a career high six goals. Leinweber returned to Johnstown last season where he played 47 games (3-12-15) for the club. This year with Utah, he has a goal and nine points in 21 games with the Grizzlies.

The Lynx part ways with the rights to defenseman Ed Hill, who was originally acquired from the Phoenix RoadRunners in an earlier trade and failed to report to the club. Augusta also sends King, who had four goals, nine points, and 108 minutes in penalties this season, along with Peterson to the Grizzlies in the deal.

Neither Battaglia nor Leinweber are expected to be in the lineup for tonight's game against Gwinnett due to travel constraints.

The Lynx battle Gwinnett tonight at 7:05 pm before returning home to face Pensacola at 7:05 pm on a Hump Day with the Hooters Girls. This weekend the Lynx face Greenville at home Friday night on Bike Night, followed by a one-day road swing to Florida to battle the Everblades. Tickets are on sale now for all remaining Lynx home games through the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, and through all TicketMaster outlets.
