Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx have added forward Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau from the American Hockey League's Portland Pirates and former Providence College defenseman Jeff Mason for tonight's game against the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Parenteau, 22, has appeared in only one game this season after sustaining an injury while attending training camp with the National Hockey League's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. He returned to the ice this past Sunday, notching a power play goal in Portland's 3-2 win over the Manchester Monarchs.

Selected by the Mighty Ducks in the ninth round, #264 overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-11, 194 lb. winger set pro career highs in goals (17), assists (24), and points (41) with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks last season. Parenteau scored 51 goals and 118 points in his best year of junior hockey with the Chicoutimi Suagueneens of the QMJHL in 2001-02.

The 24-year-old Mason was a teammate of current Lynx players Eric Lundberg and Doug Wright at Providence College. Over four years with the Friars, the 5-10, 175 lb. defenseman recorded six goals and 30 points and served as team captain for his senior season.

Both players will be in uniform for the Lynx tonight as they take on the Gladiators in Gwinnett. Parenteau will wear #14, while Mason will don #4 for the contest. Paul Kelly has switched to #9 for the remainder of the season.

The Lynx battle Gwinnett tonight at 7:05 pm before returning home to face Pensacola at 7:05 pm on a Hump Day with the Hooters Girls. This weekend the Lynx face Greenville at home Friday night on Bike Night, followed by a one-day road swing to Florida to battle the Everblades. Tickets are on sale now for all remaining Lynx home games through the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, and through all TicketMaster outlets.
