Gillies Strong in Net as Heat Blanked 3-0 by San Diego

STOCKTON, Calif. - For just the third time this season the high-scoring Heat offense was held without a goal, a 3-0 loss Saturday to the San Diego Gulls at Stockton Arena. The visitors did their damage quickly, two goals from Sam Steel and Adam Cracknell in a span of just 15 seconds late in the first frame and then Steel punctuated the night with an empty netter in the final six seconds to produce the final score. Stockton got another strong performance out of netminder Jon Gillies, who turned away 33 of 35 shots faced on the night while earning third star honors. The Heat and Gulls will close out their three-game set Wednesday night in San Diego.
