Gators get 3 points against Pensacola, look forward to Reunion Week

Lafayette, LA – Playing two games in a week for the first time this season, the IceGators completed a weekend home and home series against Pensacola by going 1-0-1, capturing 3 out of 4 possible points. Friday night in Pensacola, Max Fortunus' goal with 24 seconds to play in the 2nd period put the Gators up for good, enroute to a 6-4 win. Mike Omicioli had 3 points (2-1-3) and Kyle Kettles stopped 31 shots for his first win of the year. On Saturday night, the sellout crowd in the Cajundome went into a frenzy when Jake Ortmeyer scored on the power play with under two minutes to play to tie the game at 2. It was Ortmeyer's first goal as an IceGator. In overtime, former Gators D-Man Corey Neilsen sent the fans home dissapointed when his goal :54 seconds into extra time gave Pensacola a 3-2 win.

Reunion Week

In celebration of the 10th anniversary season of the Lousiana IceGators, a three day celebration will take place to commemorate "Reunion Week". The festivities will begin on Wednesday with the IceGators Golf Tournament at Acadian Hills Golf Club, sponsored by Domengeaux, Wright, Roy and Edwards, proceeds to benefit the Louisiana Amateur Hockey Association.

Thursday, November 11, at 7:05 is the "Welcome Home Banquet". All players from the 2004-05 IceGators team plus past greats will meet at The Manor in Cade, Louisiana, for a night of food and stories. Friday night, November 12, is officially "Reunion Night" sponsored by KLFY TV-10. The IceGators take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves, at 7:05pm. In addition to this battle of divisional rivals, in between periods we will pay honor to the past IceGators greats with a special tribute. Scheduled to attend:

This Week It is another home and home weekend for the Gators, this time taking on the Mississippi Sea Wolves at home Friday, then in Biloxi on Saturday night. The Gators and Sea Wolves met on Opening Night in Biloxi, with the Sea Wolves winning 3-1. Louis Dumont had 3 points for the Sea Wolves. Mike Omicioli scored the only IceGators goal of the night. Both games this weekend can been heard or watched via the internet only at www.icegators.com.

Notes By getting a point with the overtime loss on Saturday night, the Gators remain undefeated in regulation in home openers. Louisiana is now 9-0-1 in the first games in the Cajundome.

Power Play The IceGators have scored at least one power play goal in every game this season and lead the ECHL with a 30% (6-20) success rate on the power play. Mike Omicioli leads the Gators with 3 power play goals, Wes Mason has two.

Penalty Kill

The IceGators yet to allow a power play goal in regulation play so far this season. The team has killed 16 of 17 shorthanded opportunities this year for a success rate of 94.1%.

GAME CHANGE

The game between the Louisiana IceGators and Gwinnett Gladiators originally scheduled for Sunday, November 14 has been moves to Wednesday night, November 17, at 7:05pm. The change was made necessary due to the rescheduling of an Alan Jackson concert.

The IceGators will practice Monday thru Wednesday at the Hockeyplex in Carencro at 10am, Thursday and Friday mornings the team will be back at the Frozen Swamp for practice at 10am.

Community News

The 3rd edition of "Gator Talk" will be live this Tuesday Night from Tampico's Restaurant and Cantina from 7-8pm. Join Coach Todd Gordon, Jake Ortmeyer, Josh Barker, along with Bruce LeVine live for the show.

Thursday November 10, Ex-IceGators goaltender Bryan Schoen will be on Passe Patout seen on TV-10 at 6am.

Thursday, November 10,Two Ex-IceGator players will be making appearances on several radio stations throughout Acadiana, keep listening during the hours of 7am-10am for "Reunion Week' news.
