ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades closed out the first half of their 6-game west coast swing this past week with a 1-2-0 record, which has them tied for third in the South Division. Overall, the ‘Blades enter this week's action with a record of 4-4-0 (8 pts., T-3rd South Division).

GAME NOTES: A rematch of the 2004 Kelly Cup Finals, which saw the Idaho Steelheads defeat the Everblades 4-games-to-1 to win the 2004 ECHL championship. However, this is the first time the two teams have ever met in regular season play. Last year the Steelheads finished with a 40-23-9 record, which was third in the Pacific Division. The three-game set will be the only three played between the clubs this year. Idaho enters the week leading the ECHL in penalty minutes with 213. The Steelheads enter this week's action with a record of 5-2-0 (10 pts., T-1st West Division).

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

Thursday, November 4 at San Diego, 6-2 L

The opening game of Florida's west coast trip saw the ‘Blades fall to the San Diego Gulls 6-2 at the San Diego Sports Arena. The Gulls jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the 11:21 mark of the first period, and San Diego net minder Trevor Koenig stopped 44 of 46 Florida shots. David Lundbohm collected his first professional goal late in the first period cutting the Gulls lead to two. San Diego added a goal in the second period to open a 4-1 lead, before rookie Matt Hendricks notched his first pro goal to cut the Gulls lead in half. However, San Diego picked up two third period goals to seal the win. Craig Kowalski started in goal for Florida and suffered the loss, allowing four goals on 12 shots before being relieved by Rob Zepp 35 minutes into the game. Zepp allowed two goals on nine shots. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-7, PK: 4-6.

Friday, November 5 at Long Beach, 3-2 W

The Everblades rebounded from their tough loss to San Diego to pick up a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs Friday night at the Long Beach Arena. Matt Hendricks picked up two goals for the Everblades, including the game-winner early in the third period, and Rob Zepp stopped 20 of 22 Long Beach shots to preserve the win and climb to 3-1-0. Ernie Hartlieb notched his second goal of the season early in the third period for Florida's other goal. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-6, PK: 4-for-5.

Saturday, November 6 at Long Beach, 4-1 L

The Long Beach Ice Dogs bounced back to hand Florida a 4-1 loss on Saturday night at Long Beach Arena. The Everblades trailed 2-0 after the opening period of play, but closed to within a goal late in the second period on Keith Anderson's second goal of the season. The Ice Dogs sealed the win with a pair of goals in the third period, including the last coming with the Florida net empty in the final 38 seconds of the game. Rob Zepp started in goal for Florida and allowed three goals on 28 shots faced to fall to 3-2-0 on the season. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-2, PK: 0-for-2.

Thoughts From The Road: The Everblades continue along on their season-long 7-game road this week. So far on the trip the Everblades are 1-3-0. So far, Florida has scored 10 goals, and allowed 17 goals. On the west coast portion of the trip, which will last 13 days, the Everblades will log a total of 6,355 miles! Overall this season, the ‘Blades will spend a total of 72 days on the road this season! Florida doesn't skate on its home ice again until Nov. 19.

Special Teams: Entering this week the Everblades rank 16th on the power play (6-for-41, 14.6%) and rank 28th on the penalty kill (25-for-38, 65.8%) So far this season, the Everblades have allowed a power play goal in every game.

Leading the Way!: Damian Surma continues to lead the ECHL in scoring with 12 points (7g, 5a). His seven goals also continues to lead the league. Surma also leads the ECHL in plus/minus with a plus-10. Matt Hendricks is in a two-way tie for the lead in rookie scoring with seven points (3g, 4a). Defensively, Matt Pagnutti is tied for first in defensive scoring with seven points (1g, 6a).

Coach's Show: The Florida Everblades weekly coach's show, "Blades Talk" will return on Monday, November 15 at Stevie Tomato's Sports Page in Ft. Myers. The show will run live from 7-8 p.m. and can be heard live on SportsRadio 770 AM. The weekly Monday night show features the "voice" of the Florida Everblades Kevin Reiter along with ‘Blades head coach Gerry Fleming. Each week a different Everblades player will join Reiter and Fleming to talk about the Everblades previous games from the past week, and take a look at what's coming up for the ‘Blades. Fans are encouraged to attend!
