Gators Blank Wildcatters

Louisiana IceGators News Release


Beaumont, TX – For the second time in seven days the Louisiana IceGators shut out the Texas Wildcatters, winning in the Cajundome by a 3-0 score. Rookie Goaltender Nathan Marsters getting his first pro shut out, stopping all 38 Texas shots on the night.

The Gators took a 1-0 lead in the first period as David Bararuk redirected an Alex Materukhin wrist shot over Phil Osaer for his 4th goal of the year at 5:59. Randy Dagenais picked up his 8th assist of the season on the only goal of the period.

Louisiana increased the lead to 2-0 at the 4:31 mark of the 2nd period. Doug MacIver scoring his 1st goal of the year on a wrist shot from the right point. Osaer never saw the puck as Bararuk laid down a perfect screen in front of the Texas net. Materukhin added his 2nd assist of the game on the only goal of the period.

The Gators scored once in the 3rd period to make the final score 3-0.Wes Mason getting his 9th goal of the season on an assist from Pascal Pelletier. With the win the IceGators record is now 8-4-2, 18 points and 3rd place in the South Division. The Gators hit the road for 5 games in 8 nights starting tomorrow night in Augiusta.

After the game, the IceGators announced that Center Mike Omicioli is leaving the team to return to Italy, where he has played professionally for the previous two seasons. In 13 games with Louisiana, Omicioli scored 13 points on 5 goals and 8 assists. No immediate roster move to replace Omicioli has been made.

The IceGators return home to the Frozen Swamp on Tuesday night December 14th to face the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05pm. It is the beginning of "Toy Drive" week, culminating in Teddy Bear Toss night on Friday December 17.Tickets for this and all IceGators home games are available now.
