(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that forward Sam Paolini has been recalled to the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League. In a separate move, the Edmonton Road Runners of the AHL have assigned forward Tomas Micka to Toledo.
Paolini has appeared in 16 games with Toledo this season, and has scored four goals with ten assists during that time. The University of Cornell graduate is in his second professional season. Last season, Sam split time between Atlantic City of the ECHL, along with Rochester and Cleveland of the AHL. In five career AHL games, Paolini has one goal and one assist.
Micka, who was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2002 NHL entry draft, comes to Toledo through Edmonton of the AHL. The native of the Czech Republic is in his second pro season, and started this year with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL. In nine games with the Grrrowl, Tomas had one goal along with three assists. Last season, Tomas played with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL. In 67 games, Tomas scored 17 goals and 15 assists. Utah plays tonight in Cleveland, before heading to Grand Rapids Saturday night.
