NHLer Purinton Joins Salmon Kings

December 3, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

The Victoria Salmon Kings have signed 6'3", 226 lb, NHL veteran Dale Purinton. The native of Fort Wayne, Indiana was the 5th Round Pick of the New York Rangers in the 1995 NHL Entry draft and will be the first non-Canadian born player on the Salmon Kings.

Purinton appeared in 40 games for the Rangers in the 2003-2004 season, he tallied one goal and one helper and finished third on the team in penalty minutes with 117.

Dale is as tough as they come and will definitely help shore up the Salmon Kings blue-line adding grit and experience. There is no question to what type of game Purinton brings to the ice; Bob Probert is one of his most admired players.

He was the captain of the 1996-1997 WHL Champion and Memorial Cup finalist Lethbridge Hurricanes. Purinton's most memorable hockey moment is winning the 2000 Calder Cup with the Hartford Wolf Pack. This will be Purinton's second stop in the ECHL, he played for the Charlotte Checkers during the 1997-1998 season.

The Victoria Salmon Kings are excited to host their first home game against the Bakersfield Condors, in front of a standing room only crowd, at the Bear Mountain Arena on Sunday December 5, 2004 at 1:00 PM.
