Gamache Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Greenville Grrrowl and current Milwaukee Admirals left wing Simon Gamache is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for November.
Gamache had a team-leading seven goals, five power-play goals, 11 assists and 18 points in 12 games in November as Milwaukee went 8-2-2. In 18 games in 2004-05, Gamache ranks eighth in the American Hockey League and leads Milwaukee with 24 points on a team-leading nine goals and 15 assists.
In his first professional season in 2001-02, the 5-9 and 185-pound Gamache helped Greenville capture the 2002 Kelly Cup Championship, sharing Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player honors with teammate Tyrone Garner. Selected by Atlanta in the ninth round (290th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Gamache led the playoffs with 15 goals, six power-play goals and 24 points while his three game-winning goals tied him for the postseason lead. Gamache scored a point in the last 11 postseason games (11g-6a) and also had a seven-game goal-scoring streak in the playoffs. He scored 38 points (19g-19a) in 38 regular season games for the Grrrowl while also scoring six points (2g-4a) in 26 games with Chicago of the American Hockey League.
In 2003-04, the 23-year-old Gamache scored one goal in seven games with Nashville and 45 points (18g-27a) in 52 regular season games with Milwaukee after being acquired from Atlanta on December 2, 2003. Gamache led Milwaukee with 18 assists in the postseason and scored at least a point in all four games of the Calder Cup Finals, including a four-point night (1g-3a) in Game 4, while helping the Admirals capture the AHL title. Gamache was one of eight former ECHL players on Milwaukee, marking the 15th consecutive season that a former ECHL player has been a member of the Calder Cup Champion.
In 11 career NHL games with Atlanta and Nashville, Gamache has scored two points (1g-1a).
The ECHL has affiliations with 23 of the 28 teams in the AHL in 2004-05 and is represented in the American Hockey League coaching ranks with five head coaches and 10 assistant coaches, working behind the bench of 15 of teams. In 2003-04, there were more than 90 players on AHL contracts in the ECHL and more than 220 players played in both the ECHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 425 call-ups, involving 234 players, to the AHL during the 2003-04 regular season.
