Gatewood Named "Ironman of the Week" Second-straight Time

PHOENIX - Rattler wide receiver/defensive back Randy Gatewood has been named "Ironman of the Week" for the second time in as many weeks, the Arena Football League announced today.

Gatewood (6-0, 185 pounds), who is in his 11th season in the AFL, was an instrumental part of the of the Rattlers 60-57 win against the Orlando Predators on Friday night. Offensively, he caught four passes for 50 yards a touchdown, while contributing on defense with eight tackles (two for losses) and a key pass break up. He also sealed Arizona's victory by recovering a crucial onside kick with less than a minute left in the game.

The 2003 "Ironman of the Year" is Arizona's second-leading receiver this season with 31 catches for 375 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, he leads the team in tackles (29.5) and interceptions (2).

This marks the third time this season that the Rattlers have had and AFL weekly award winner. In addition to the same honor Gatewood earned last week, offensive specialist Damien Groce was named "Offensive Player of the Week" in Week 4.

The Arizona Rattlers, who are in a first place tie with Utah and Las Vegas, look for their third-straight victory when they head to Thomas & Mack Center to take on the Las Vegas Gladiators on Friday, March 17.
