Anthony Arceneaux named ADT Defensive Player of the Week

Las Vegas, NV, March 14, 2006 - Las Vegas Gladiators' rookie WR/DB Anthony Arceneaux was named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week today for his efforts in leading the Gladiators to a 66-41 win over the Grand Rapids Rampage on Friday in Las Vegas.

An AFL rookie, Arceneaux (5'9" 185, Utah) led the Gladiators by forcing two turnovers, one on a interception and one on a forced fumble, breaking up one pass and adding four tackles. On the season, Arceneaux has 13.5 tackles, 2 INT's, 1 pass defended and 1 forced fumble.

This is the first-ever weekly award for the Honolulu, HI native.

Dallas Desperados and former Gladiators quarterback Clint Dolezel earned Offensive Player of the Week honors in the Desperados' win over Tampa Bay on Sunday and Arizona Rattler and former UNLV standout Randy Gatewood garnered Army Ironman of the Week in helping the Rattlers to victory over Orlando on Friday night.

The Gladiators continue with their third game of a three-game homestand on Friday night when Western Division rival Arizona comes to town. Kickoff at the Thomas & Mack is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (pacific). The game will be television regionally on FOX Sports Net. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 920 in Las Vegas with John Hanson and Mike Pritchard calling the game.
