LAS VEGAS-- The Las Vegas Gladiators (2-13) fell to the Los Angeles Avengers (9-6), in a 60-42 defeat on Sunday evening at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. QB Sonny Cumbie earned Offensive Player of the Game with 27 of 40 completions for 291 yards and six touchdowns in the 18-point victory over the Gladiators.
Gladiators QB Nick Rolovich finished 11 of 26 for 145 yards and three touchdowns. WR Travis LaTendresse made his mark with nine receptions for 210 yards and four touchdowns. The Gladiators sent QB Brian Jones into the game late in the second half. Jones finished the game, completing seven of nine pass attempts for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
The Avengers defense was headed by Defensive Player of the Game OL/DL Silas Demary who finished the game with 2.5 tackles and one sack for an eight-yard loss. Former Gladiators DB Eddie Canonico recorded 5.5 tackles on the game and deflected one pass.
The Gladiators came out strong in the first quarter, but a late second quarter run by the Avengers had them down 37-21 going into the half. Coming out of the half the Gladiators were unable to establish any sort of offensive rhythm until the fourth quarter, but the deficit was too great to overcome.
