Gladiators Fall to Sabercats in Final Game of 2007

June 25, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) - Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

The Las Vegas Gladiators finish the 2007 season 2-14 as the playoff bound San Jose Sabercats take the 73-46 victory over the Gladiators in front 5,027 fans at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. San Jose's special teams and defensive units combined for five touchdowns, giving the Sabercats the edge in the win.

The Gladiators made a second half quarterback change from Brian Jones to Nick Rolovich, who finished the game completing 10 of 19 pass attempts for 192 yards and four touchdowns. Jones had tough first half before being replaced, completing only 7 of 20 passes for 73 yards and one interception.

The Gladiators defense were led by DB Sidney Haugabrook who finished the game with six tackles and one pass break up. Gladiators DL Khaleed Vaughn recovered a fumble for touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Once again the receiving corps for the Gladiators were led by WR Travis LaTendresse who recorded seven receptions for 132 yards and one touchdown.

The Sabercats were led by Offensive Player of the Game QB Mark Grieb who completed nine of 13 passes for 119 yards and one touchdown. WR Rodney Wright had an outstanding night returning two kicks for touchdowns and recorded a total of 209 yards, in receptions and returns earning himself Ironman Player of the Game.

The defense for the Sabercats prevailed forcing four fumbles and one interception. The special teams and defense for the Sabercats led in scoring for the Sabercats totaling 35 of their 73 points. Their defense was led by Defensive Player of the Game DB Steve Watson who ended the game with 3.5 tackles and two fumble recoveries for 13 yards.
