Destroyers sign offensive specialist Marcus Knight

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have signed offensive specialist Marcus Knight, team President David Paitson announced today. The team also waived wide receiver/defensive back Lance Taylor and wide receiver/linebacker Eddie Galles.

Knight (6-1, 195, Michigan) joins the Destroyers after playing in 11 games with the Philadelphia Soul in 2005 and six games this season. Knight was third on the team in receiving in 2005 with 64 receptions for 886 yards and 23 touchdowns. He added 22.5 tackles (18UT-9AT), forced three fumbles, recovered four fumbles and had two pass breakups.

Through six games this season, Knight led the Soul in receiving with 44 receptions for 476 yards and four touchdowns. He also led the team in kick returns with 12 for 190 yards as well as returning two missed field goals for 29 yards. On defense, Knight added 5.5 tackles (5UT-1AT).

Knight, who was named to the all-Big Ten Second Team in 1999 and helped the Wolverines win a National Championship in 1997, spent five seasons in the National Football League. He played for the Oakland Raiders from 2000-2003, which included playing in Super Bowl XXXVII. He spent the 2004 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Knight's first game as a member of the Destroyers comes this Saturday against his former teammates when the Destroyers celebrate the great game of football from Pop Warner to the NFL with Professional Football Night when the Destroyers take on the Philadelphia Soul on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, Mar. 18. Fans are encouraged to come to the game wearing their favorite team gear. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

Fans are invited to visit The Blue Jackets Bistro before, during and after every home game for great food and drink specials. The Bistro, located outside section 118, opens two hours before kickoff and features Rooster's wings along with beer specials from Anheuser Busch.

In addition, high school and college students (23 years and under) with a valid student ID may purchase a specially priced $7 ticket beginning two hours before each home game at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office only.

Tickets are also available at the Blue Jackets Zones located at Chiller Dublin, Chiller Easton and Chiller North. All tickets are subject to service charges and facility fees.
