Lexington Legends News Release
Edwin Garcia had five hits and drove in four runs, and Jose Trevino was four-for-five with a home run as the Hickory Crawdads rolled to an 11-4 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The Legends scored three quick runs in the first inning on doubles by Corey Toups and Chad Johnson and a home run by Wander Franco, but the Crawdads answered with four runs in the second. Trevino led off with a single and advanced to second on a walk to Luke Tendler. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch, and Trevino scored on a ground out by Jairo Beras. Garcia's single scored Tendler, and Garcia reached second on the throw home. Carlos Arroyo struck out, but reached first on a wild pitch as Garcia moved to third. Arroyo broke for second as Legends pitcher Foster
Griffin threw to first, but first baseman Michael Hill's throw to second hit Arroyo, who was safe at second on the error as Garcia scored, tying the game at 3-3. Juremi Profar's single scored Arroyo with the go-ahead run.
Garcia's two-run double in the third gave Hickory a 6-3 lead, and after the Legends scored a run in the fourth, the Crawdads pulled away with a run in the fifth, Trevino's two-run homer in the sixth, and two runs aided by two Lexington errors in the seventh.
Hickory starter Austin Pettibone (2-3) settled down after the first inning and worked through the sixth to get the win. Griffin (0-4) took the loss.
The Crawdads have won the first two games of the four-game series, which continues Monday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
