Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S GAME: The Adirondack Thunder look to make it four wins in a row as they travel to Elmira for an East Division showdown with the Jackals. The two teams have met three times thus far this season, with the Thunder holding a 2-1-1 record, including a win and a shootout loss at First Arena. The Thunder are coming off of three straight wins, most recently a 2-0 shutout over the Reading Royals last evening at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Jackals enter today's action on a five game losing skid, where they've dropped their games by a combined 22-4 margin.

SHUTOUT-KAST: The Thunder have posted back-to-back shutouts, with Ken Appleby's 36-save effort in last night's win added onto Kent Simpson's 31-save performance in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Norfolk. This is the second time this season the Thunder have posted back-to-back shutouts, after a combination by Appleby and Drew Fielding in late November into early December. The Thunder have not conceded a goal in their past 139 minutes and 41 seconds of on-ice play, dating back to their 4-2 win over South Carolina on January 9.

APPLE PIE: Ken Appleby put together his second straight impressive outing and perhaps his finest performance of the season with a 36-save shutout. Appleby, who collected his third shutout of the season with the victory, was named the game's first star for his efforts. The former Oshawa General has a 2.28 goals against average and a .921 save percentage on the season, while his three shutouts are tied for the ECHL high this season.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE JOE: Defenseman Joe Faust scored his second goal of the season in last night's win with a power-play goal to give the Thunder an insurance tally. The blueliner's goal was his first since December 16 against Elmira and his first this season on the power play. The University of Wisconsin graduate has eight points (2-6-8) on the season.

MAC ATTACK: Peter MacArthur scored his second straight game winning goal in last night's win over the Royals. MacArthur's power-play tally, which came midway through the first period, extended his scoring streak to three games and marked his first power-play goal of the season. Since he joined the team in late December, MacArthur has collected six points (3-3-6) over 12 games played.

SPECIAL K: The Thunder put together one of their finest performances of the season on special teams last night, as they netted two power-play goals and were a perfect six-of-six on the penalty kill. The Thunder got power play goals from MacArthur and Faust, marking the first time since December 4 that the Thunder have struck twice in a game on the power play. With the perfect night on the penalty kill, Adirondack's man down unit has now killed off 24 consecutive chances, spanning over their past six games.
