THE MATCHUP

The South Carolina Stingrays rematch with the Alaska Aces this afternoon after a thrilling contest last night. The Aces took home a 5-4 overtime victory in a game that saw the Stingrays erase a 3-0 Alaska lead. South Carolina stormed back to take a 4-3 lead, but Tommasso Travera notched a hat trick and assisted on the winning goal in overtime to give Alaska the win.

RARE VISIT FROM ALASKA

Today is only the fourth matchup between the Alaska Aces and South Carolina Stingrays in regular season play since the Aces joined the ECHL in 2003. South Carolina beat Alaska 4-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum on March 16, 2004 and 4-3 in a shootout on March 19, 2004. Last night was the Aces first win against South Carolina in regular season play. The last time the Aces and Stingrays met outside of the regular season was during the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals. South Carolina won the series, 4-3, to claim the organization's third Kelly Cup. South Carolina Head Coach Spencer Carbery was a player on the Stingrays 2009 Championship Team while Alaska's Patrick Wellar also played for the Stingrays.

FIRST FOR CHICK

Jordan Ciccarello scored his first ECHL goal last night in South Carolina's 5-4 overtime loss. The defenseman was skating in his 32nd ECHL game and only his second with South Carolina. The goal was Ciccarello's first professional tally outside of the Federal Hockey League (FHL) where he had six for Danbury last season.

PERRIER JOINS CENTURY CLUB

Tonight is the 100th ECHL and professional game of Marcus Perrier's career. The former Bowling Green State product is in his second season, and has played both forward and defense for the Rays this season.

GAUL'S IMPACT

Forward Patrick Gaul returned to the lineup on Friday night and his impact has been felt. The forward notched an assist on Jared Staal's goal last night and has been a key part of the penalty kill. One of the league's top faceoff men, Gaul is in his fourth season with the Stingrays after starting his pro career in the SPHL.
