Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans blew a 3-2 third period lead on Sunday afternoon, falling to Cincinnati 4-3 in a shootout at Allen Event Center. The Americans wrap up the season series on Monday Afternoon at 1:05 in the annual Martin Luther King Day Spectacular.

Cyclones forward Jack Downing did all the damage late, scoring the game tying goal with twelve seconds left in the third period, and then scored the only goal in the shootout to lift Cincinnati to the one goal victory over the Americans.

"It's really disappointing," said Americans forward Chad Costello following the loss. "We had a chance to win our third straight at home and gain two points on the division leading Missouri Mavericks and we let this one slip away. We had the two points and we now have settle for one."

That wasn't the worst news of the afternoon, as the Americans lose goalie Riley Gill for a good length of time to concussion. Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson said after the game that Gill is going to be out of the lineup for a significant amount of time.

The Americans host Cincinnati again tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 pm at Allen Event Center. Don't miss an appearance by the animals of the Dallas Zoo, which will be set up on the concourse when doors open at Noon.

Tickets for Monday afternoon's game against Cincinnati are on sale NOW at www.ticketmaster.com or call (972) 912-1000.
