Adirondack Thunder News Release
WHO: Adirondack Thunder (12-4-2-3) vs. Norfolk Admirals (3-15-4-0)
WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME
WHEN: Saturday, December 10, 2016 @ 7:00 PM
WHERE: Glens Falls Civic Center - Glens Falls, NY
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Thunder complete their second of two straight games against the Norfolk Admirals tonight at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Norfolk was victorious in the first meeting, a 4-3 overtime contest on Tuesday evening. The Admirals conclude their week tonight after they visited Manchester on Wednesday and Friday for a pair of games against the Monarchs.
WALL IN: Adirondack Thunder defenseman Alex Wall extended his scoring streak to three games with an assist in Tuesday's defeat against Norfolk. The rookie leads all active Thunder defensemen with 14 points (2-12-14) on the season after Mathieu Brodeur's recall to Syracuse and the AHL. The Newfoundland native's 14 points rank third in the ECHL amongst all first-year defensemen.
HOME ALONEY: Thunder forward Ty Loney picked up a goal and an assist on Tuesday as he continues to lead the team in scoring. The 6-4 winger now has 21 points (10-11-21) on the season, the only active Thunder player at a point-per-game. Loney has already set a new ECHL career high in points, three more than he amassed last season in Wheeling in seven less games played.
MAKING A POINT OF IT: Including Tuesday's overtime defeat to Norfolk, the Thunder have now collected at least one point in 17 of 21 games this season with a 12-4-2-3 record. With a point in 81.0% of their games this season, the Thunder rank third league-wide in that statistic, trailing only Florida (85.7%) and Toledo (85.0%).
JP SMOOVE: After goaltender Tom McCollum was recalled to Stockton earlier this week, Adirondack acquired goaltender J.P. Anderson from the Wheeling Nailers. Anderson has amassed a 4-1-1 record in six games this season, along with a .927 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average, with his save percentage ranking tied for fifth league wide among goaltenders with at least five games played.
CALL IN THE FEDS: Adirondack forward Alex Fedoseyev picked up two assists on Tuesday against Norfolk, the first multi-point game of his ECHL career. Fedoseyev, who picked up an assist on Brian Ward's game-tying goal early in the second period, now has five points (1-4-5) in nine games this season. The Moscow native is currently in his first year with the Thunder after he spent the past six seasons playing professionally in Russia.
REINFORCEMENTS HAVE ARRIVED: Adirondack welcomes back forward Mikkel Aagaard and defenseman Keegan Kanzig, who were both active on Tuesday after they returned from Stockton in the AHL. Aagaard has nine points (4-5-9) in 12 games with the Thunder this season and netted his first career AHL goal on November 26 against Tuscon. Kanzig, who has appeared in ten games with the Thunder, also collected his first career AHL point, an assist, on November 30 against Charlotte.
