Last Night

Brady Brassart scored with just 9.7 seconds left in overtime to give the Mallards a 4-3 victory over the host Cincinnati Cyclones.

Back-to-Back

The Mallards tonight go for a two-game weekend sweep of the Cyclones.

Workin' Overtime

The Mallards have gone to overtime in each of their last two games. They rebounded last night after a dropping a 3-2 shootout decision to the Kalamazoo Wings on home ice Wednesday.

Upswing

The Mallards have suffered just one regulation loss in their last four games (2-1-1).

Shootout

Yesterday evening marked the first time this season the Mallards have finished a game in sudden death. Each of the Mallards' prior three overtime contests went to the shootout. The Mallards are now 2-2 this season in games decided after the end of regulation.

Sudden Victory

Last night's win was the Mallards' first overtime triumph since a goal from Austin Coldwell gave them a 4-3 victory over the Komets in Fort Wayne on March 19 in the Flock's final sudden death game of last season.

Central

The Mallards trail third-place Fort Wayne by three points in the Central Division standings. The Komets have a game in hand on the Mallards.

Rally

Last night's win was the Mallards' fourth come-from-behind victory of the season. The Mallards rallied from 1-0 and 3-2 deficits to overcome the Cyclones.

We Get Knocked Down But We Get Up Again

The Mallards have forced overtime by tying the score with the only goal of the third period in each of their last two games. Pavel Jenys last night evened the score at three at 3:06 of the third period after Dylan Labbe deadlocked the contest at two at 15:39 of the third Wednesday night against Kalamazoo.

Third

The Mallards have held foes scoreless in the third period of their last four games while scoring three third period goals themselves and have outscored opponents 7-2 in the third period over their last six games. On the season, the third is the only period in which the Mallards have outscored (23-16) the opposition. The Mallards have been outscored 40-37 over the first two periods.

Shooting Gallery

Brassart scored last night's game winner with the Mallards' only shot of overtime. The Mallards, who totaled 26 shots yesterday evening, have taken 25 shots or fewer in regulation in each of their last four games.

Rapid Fire

Justin Kovacs and Nolan LaPorte last night provided the first two Mallard goals in a span of just one minute and twelve seconds to give the Mallards a short-lived 2-1 second period lead.

On the Road

The Mallards tonight play the second of four straight away games. This evening's contest is also the sixth game in a stretch that sees the Mallards play eight of nine on the road. The Mallards boast a better record on the road (8-5-0) than at home (4-3-2).

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards next play at home on Wednesday, December 21 against Fort Wayne. Each of the Mallards' last two home games has gone to the shootout. The Mallards edged Indy 4-3 in a shootout on November 25 at the iWireless Center before falling to Kalamazoo Wednesday night.

Red Light District

The Mallards last night scored twice as many goals as they produced in their prior two games combined. The Mallards rank twentieth in the ECHL in goals per game (2.8).

Stingy

The Mallards rank third in the ECHL in goals against (2.6 per game). The Mallards have given up three goals or fewer in 18 of their first 22 games and have held foes to two goals or fewer in regulation 12 times.

First

Last night's sudden death strike was Brassart's first career overtime goal. Brassart also picked up an assist last night.

Perfect 10

By scoring last night, Kovacs climbed within one of Sam Warning in the race for the team lead in goals (8) and points (19). Kovacs and Warning are tied for the Mallard lead in assists (11).

Rolling

With a goal last night, LaPorte has now recorded seven points (three goals and four assists) in his last five games and nine points (three goals and six assists) in his last seven games.

Streak

Kevin Gibson last night notched two assists- including one on Brassart's game winner- to extend his career-best point-scoring streak to five games (one goal and five assists) and his career-best assist streak to four games. Last night marked the second time in his two-year career Gibson has posted two points in a single game. He first collected two points in one outing last season when he registered a pair of assists on March 13 in the Mallards' 4-1 win over the IceMen in Evansville.

Between the Pipes

C.J. Motte made 22 saves in last night's win. Motte ranks second in the ECHL in save percentage (.938), ranks third in goals against average (2.09) and is tied for fifth in wins (9).

Milestones

Mike Monfredo last night collected his one hundredth career assist on Brassart's game winner. Monfredo was credited with the milestone assist in a postgame scoring change. Monfredo ranks sixth in Mallards history in career games played (294). If he dresses for each of the Mallards' next six games, he will play his three hundredth game for the team on December 30 against Missouri...Chris Francis has scored 99 career goals in 394 career games...Mike Wilson has 198 career regular season assists...Donnie Harris has played 297 career games... Justin Kovacs has played 93 career games.

Special Teams

The Mallards and Cyclones enjoyed a single power play apiece last night. Cincinnati converted its opportunity while the Mallards came up dry. The Mallards have gone 0-for-24 on the power play since Francis scored on the man advantage in the first period of the Mallards' 4-2 win over the Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena on November 23. The Mallards have given up a power play goal in each of their last two games. The Mallards rank sixteenth in the ECHL on the power play (15.6 percent) and are tied for eighth in penalty killing (85.5 percent).

Head-to-Head

The Mallards have gone 2-1-1 against the Cyclones this season. The two clubs will clash a total of nine times. The Mallards have taken two of their first three games in Cincinnati. All time, the Mallards have gone 7-8-2 against the Cyclones and 4-3-0 at U.S. Bank Arena. After tonight, the two clubs next meet January 6 in the Quad Cities. The Mallards will next travel to Cincinnati on January 11.
