Quad City Mallards News Release

[CINCINNATI, Ohio (December 10, 2016) - *Guillaume Gelinas scored 39 seconds into overtime to give the Quad City Mallards (13-8-2) a 4-3 victory over the host Cincinnati Cyclones (9-10-4) Saturday night.

Gelinas buried the puck on a breakaway to give the Mallards a second 4-3 sudden death win in as many nights in Cincinnati. The Cyclones earned one point after battling back from a 3-1 third period deficit to force overtime.

The Cincinnati rally started when Tommy Mele broke in behind the Mallard defense shorthanded to cut the gap to 3-2 at 10:01 of the third. Arvin Atwal then drove home the tying goal from the right point with just two minutes and 45 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Mallards had seemingly taken control by scoring twice in 22 seconds early in the third. Dylan Labbe snapped a 1-1 deadlock from the left wing circle at 2:15. Michael Parks turned Nolan LaPorte's centering pass into a third straight Mallard goal at 2:37.

Andrew Panzarella started that three-goal run when he tied the score at one with a slap shot from the right point at 13:34 of the second period.

The Cyclones were on the power play when Craig Dalrymple scored the game's first goal with a blast from the left point at 5:30 of the first period.

The Mallards return to action on the road against the Indy Fuel next Saturday. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday, December 21 against the Fort Wayne Komets. That game and all Mallards Wednesday night home games this season face off at the special early start time of 6:35.
