November 18, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (7-3-1-2) @ Utah Grizzlies (7-5-0-1) WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME

WHEN: Friday, November 18, 2016 @ 9:00 PM

WHERE: Maverik Center - West Valley City, Utah

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Thunder are approaching the end of their long road trip with two games this weekend in Utah. Adirondack is currently 3-2-0-1 in six games away from Glens Falls and concluded their series against the Grizzlies this weekend. The Thunder dropped Game 1 against Utah by a 5-2 final on Monday evening.

MAKE LOVE, NOT WARD: After he led the Thunder with five points in three games in Idaho, first-year forward Brian Ward moved into a tie for the ECHL lead in goals with his ninth of the season in Monday's defeat. Ward is currently tied with Colorado's Jesse Mychan for the league lead and sits in sole possession of the lead amongst rookies by two goals. Ward is also tied for second on the Thunder with 11 points (9-2-11) on the season.

HOME ALONEY: The Thunder got yet another goal from winger Ty Loney in Monday's defeat, his fifth tally and 13th point of the season, which leads all Thunder skaters. Loney, who is currently scoring at a point-per-game rate through 13 games played, has now picked up a point in eight of nine road games this season. The 6-4 winger is currently in his second season of professional hockey, after he split the 2015-16 season with Wheeling in the ECHL and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Despite a pair of recent setbacks, the Thunder are still sitting atop the Eastern Conference in both road victories (6) and points (13). Adirondack's defeats in Idaho and Utah were their first in regulation this season away from home. As a whole, the Thunder trail only the Toledo Walleye, who have skated to an 8-2-0-0 record in 10 road games to date.

DON'T TASE ME, BROD: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur continues to lead the offensive attack from the blueline, as he netted five points (1-4-5) in three games on the Idaho trip. The 6-6 defenseman now has ten points (3-7-10) in nine games on the season, tops amongst all Thunder defensemen and tied for fourth league-wide. A season ago, Brodeur was tied with Patch Alber for the lead on the Adirondack blueline with 30 points (9-21-30).

PLUG IN THE POWER: Ty Loney's tally on Monday came with Adirondack on the man advantage, the first time in four games that the team had scored a goal on the power play. Despite recent struggles, Adirondack is tied with the Atlanta Gladiators for the league lead with eight power-play goals in road games this season and are third league-wide at a 26.7% clip.
