Idaho Steelheads News Release
Norfolk, VA (11/18/16)- The Idaho Steelheads (8-5-2) scored twice in the third period to overcome a two-goal deficit, but Brodie Dupont's rebound goal at 2:21 of overtime pushed the Norfolk Admirals (2-8-3) to a 4-3 win at Norfolk Scope, their first home win of the season.
Dupont scored his first goal as an Admiral after Dominic Alberga cut through the Steelhead defense off the rush and fed a slick pass to the back post where Dupont had several whacks at it before it rolled over the outstretched pad of Branden Komm.
The Steelheads were trailing 3-1 midway through the third period. After the teams went to the second intermission tied 1-1, the Admirals struck twice 1:33 apart to open their second lead of the night. Off an offensive zone face-off, Jaedon Descheneau got loose for a quick shot from the slot past Komm's glove for a 2-1 Admiral lead at 1:38. Shortly after, Domenic Alberga redirected an Aaron Harstad point shot for a 3-1 lead.
The Steelheads answered back on two strong plays by rookie defensemen. Brandon Anselmini carried the puck down the left wing wall at 9:20 of the third period and rifled a pass right to the back post for Jefferson Dahl to tap in his team-leading sixth of the season. At 14:04, Travis Walsh held the puck in at the left point buy pinching along the wall, stayed in deep after making the play, and found the rebound of a Rob Linsmayer shot for his second of the season and a 3-3 tie.
It's the third time in the past four road games the Steelheads have come from behind beyond the midway point of regulation to earn a point. They are unbeaten in regulation in their last four games and their last four contests on the road.
The Admirals opened the scoring at 9:58 of the first period on a 3-on-2 rush, with defenseman Samuel Noreau scoring his second of the season. Idaho answered back with a rebound goal at 17:12, Anthony Luciani's fifth of the year. Defenseman Miro Karjalainen took the initial shot, earning his first point as a Steelhead.
The Steelheads and Admirals face each other in the rubber-match of their three-game set on Saturday night, with puck-drop scheduled for 5:15pm MT at Norfolk Scope. The game is available on 1350AM KTIK and on ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME:
Friday night was another free-wheeling game in Norfolk, and the Admirals had the final whack in the back-and-forth battle. Domenic Alberga was involved in everything for the Admirals and his give-and-go with Brodie Dupont gave Norfolk an open look during the 3-on-3. Branden Komm made several solid saves in this game and one of them was the initial stop on Dupont's overtime goal, reaching out the right pad along the goal line to kick away the shot in close. But with the 3-on-3 allowing Alberga and Gabriel Verpaelst to crash the net as well, Dupont got one final chaotic swipe at the puck to flip it over Komm and give the Admirals their first overtime win in four tries.
