TONIGHT: The Orlando Solar Bears (20-17-3-0) head up to Gwinnett County for a Saturday night clash with the Atlanta Gladiators (13-19-5-1), in what will be the fifth of nine total games this season. The Solar Bears are 3-1-0-0 against the Gladiators this season and have been victorious in each of the last three meetings between the two clubs. Atlanta is enjoying its best stretch of play this season, having won its last five consecutive games and seven of its last 10.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO START STRONG: The Solar Bears have led after the first period in 13 total games this season, sporting an 11-1-1-0 record, while the Gladiators have only been able to take the lead in six total matches, going 3-2-1-0. Orlando has also scored three goals in the second period against Atlanta on two separate occasions this season.
TAMMELA LEADS THE WAY ON ROAD TRIP: Since the Solar Bears began their current road trip, forward Jonne Tammela has led the team in scoring with eight points (5g-3a) and in plus-minus with +5 through six games. The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect is coming off of back-to-back three-point outings against South Carolina last week.
SOLAR BEARS TRIM GOALTENDING DEPTH: With Martin Ouellette's return from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, the Solar Bears have released fellow goaltender Charlie Millen. The 26-year-old netminder went 1-2-0 with a 3.38 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage through three appearances with Orlando.
NEXT GAMES: The Solar Bears continue their road trip when they face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena Arena. The Solar Bears return home to host the Jacksonville Icemen on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. for a Wine Down Wednesday. Fans can take advantage of $5 wine specials during the game.
