TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (26-13-2-4) play their second match of three games in three nights against the Colorado Eagles (31-14-0-1). The Eagles pulled ahead in the season series with their 3-1 win over the Reign last night, while widening their lead atop the Pacific Division. The trip marks the final time during the regular season that the Reign will visit the Budweiser Events Center.
HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Tristan King's goal for Ontario last night gave him his first of the season against Colorado; his eight points (1g-7a) are second in team scoring against the Eagles behind only Judd Blackwater (5g-6a). The Reign meanwhile, will want to key in on Nathan Moon, who leads the Eagles in scoring against Ontario with 10 points in eight games (4g-6a).
WHO'S ON FIRST:
Getting that first goal will be crucial for both teams. Ontario is 20-2-0-2 when the team scores first, while Colorado boasts a 22-3-0-0 record under the same conditions. Where Ontario may hold an advantage is when trailing after two periods; the Reign have managed to force a third-period comeback three times, while the Eagles have been unable to manage the feat this season.
CANNATA HANDLING INCREASED WORKLOAD:
Despite seeing a season-high 36 shots against last night, Joe Cannata had a strong showing from a numbers standpoint in his first start of the season against Colorado. His 2.09 goals-against average still leads the ECHL.
