Allen Americans News Release
Bampton, Ontario - The Allen Americans (32-7-2-2) defeated the Brampton Beast (13-28-2-0) on Friday night, by a score of 5-1 at the Powerade Center in Southern Ontario.
The Americans jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Brampton finally solved Riley Gill. Gill stopped 36 of 37 shots to earn the games number one star. He now leads the ECHL in wins with 23.
Chad Costello, scored his 22nd goal of the season Friday night, to extend his point streak to 17 games, tying Nino Musitelli for the all-time club record. Jesse Messier (3) Garrett Clarke (2) Josef Fojtik (2) and Jamie Schaafsma (10) all lit the lamp for Allen.
The Americans improve to 5-0 against Brampton on the season and extend their lead to 20 points over second place Quad City in the ECHL Central Division.
Americans backup netminder Josh Trimberger was able to get in the game tonight in the final two minutes, giving him his first pro ice time.
"It was exciting to see him get in the game," said Americans defenseman Aaron Gens. "All the guys were pulling for him. He has been filling in over the last couple months due to injuries and call-ups so the time was earned."
The Americans resume the road trip on Tuesday night in Southern California against the Ontario Reign. Your Americans next home game is Saturday, February 14, which will be our inaugural Pucks N Paws game.
