DULUTH, Ga. - Gladiators defenseman Joe Stejskal was signed by the Iowa Wild to a PTO contract Saturday morning, the AHL team announced on Saturday. With the assignment, Stejskal (pronounced STAY-skull) is the 11th Gladiator player to reach the AHL this season.
Stejskal, 26, is the Gladiators' plus-minus leader at a +10 rating, and is in the midst of a career year, offensively. The native of Grand Rapids, Minn. was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the fifth round (#133 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. After four years at Dartmouth College, Stejskal spent two seasons with the Canadiens organization from 2011 to 2013.
Stejskal has AHL experience in 93 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, scoring one goal and eight assists. He has also played for the Wheeling Nailers and spent all of last season with the Florida Everblades.
