February 7, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN - In the eighth of ten head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel topped the Evansville IceMen on Saturday at the Ford Center in Evansville by a final score of 4-1. With the win, the Fuel improved to 17-22-4-3 overall this season and with 41 points, remain alone in sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings, just three points out of playoff position.
For the second consecutive game, the IceMen grabbed a 1-0 lead as a swiveling Brandon Wong finish set the tone for Evansville at 5:45 of the first. A Fuel response was quick in coming, however, as Nicklas Lindberg finished a give-and-go play with Pete Massar at 7:00 to tie the game at one heading into the first intermission.
In the middle frame, the Fuel extended their lead to 3-1 thanks to even-strength scores from Kyle Stroh at 3:12, assisted by Justin Holl, and Matt White at 8:49, assisted by Kirill Gotovets. The third period's only score came at 18:20 when Evan Vossen and Nick Jones supplied Lindberg with a pass in his own zone and the veteran Swedish centerman connected on a rink-long empty-netter to seal a 4-1 Indy win.
Shane Owen was stellar in net for the Fuel as the Markham, Ontario native made 36 saves while Chris Driedger supplied 34 stops in defeat for the IceMen. With the victory, the Fuel are winners of three straight games and are 11-1-1-0 in their last 13.
