ABOUT LAST NIGHT, INNINGS 1-8: Following a back-and-forth contest that saw three total lead changes, Mason Martin knocked a single through the right side to give the Indians a walk-off win over the Saints and snap a five-game losing skid, 7-6. Following a leadoff home run by Spencer Steer on the third pitch of the ballgame, the Indians responded with a pair of two-run homers in the bottom of the first. Rodolfo Castro lifted a two-run homer just over the right field fence to put the Indians in front, 2-1, and Bligh Madris followed with a two-run shot of his own for a three-run lead. The Saints clawed back to tie the game at 4-4 with two-run blast and RBI single by the rehabbing Sano in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively. Castro then countered on the first pitch of the bottom of the fifth with his second homer of the ballgame. The sixth home run of the game, a two-run shot off the bat of St. Paul's Curtis Terry, gave the opposing team a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning. A two-out RBI single off the bat of Travis Swaggerty tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh, a score that would hold until the Indians came to the plate in the ninth inning.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT, INNING 9: With one out, an error by first baseman Miguel Sano and seven-pitch walk to Travis Swaggerty allowed Bligh Madris to reach safely and move to scoring position as the game-winning run. On the first pitch to him, Martin shot a single through an infield hole off Wladimir Pinto (L, 3-4) and Madris raced around third, beating the throw to home plate to end the game.

CASTRO CRUSHED TWO: Rodolfo Castro launched a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth, marking the ninth two-homer game of his career and second with Indianapolis, the last coming on 9/23/21 at Omaha. It was the second consecutive multi-homer game by an Indians batter, following Jack Suwinski's two-homer effort last night. The last time Indians batters notched multi-homer games in back-to-back days was when Cole Tucker hit a pair of homers on 8/7/21 at Iowa, just one day after both Anthony Alford and Hunter Owen hit two apiece.

MR. RELIABLE: After having his five-game hitting streak snapped last night, Bligh Madris picked up where he left off and went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in the first inning and the game-winning run scored in the bottom of the ninth. His two-hit offering was his 17th multi-hit game this season in 71 between Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. The lefty slugger has hit safely in 39 of his 56 games played in Triple-A this season, good for a .297 batting average (58-for-195). He has picked up right where he left off with Indy after spending a month with Pittsburgh and making his MLB debut. Madris has hits in seven of 10 games with Indy this month - including three multi-hit games. Prior to having his contract selected on 6/20, he had eight multi-hit performances in 16 June games.

ONE SHY: Mason Martin is currently one home run shy of 100 career home runs. The slugger has launched 14 home runs this season and two this month. He has double-digit home runs in each of his five professional seasons and his career-high most home runs in a season came in 2019 when he hit 35 with Single-A Greensboro (23) and High-A Bradenton (12).

TODAY: The Indians will look to clinch a series win in the three-game set vs. St. Paul today at 1:35 PM ET. The two squads are meeting for the third time this season and the first time at Victory Field. They first met at CHS Field on April 12-17 and then May 24-29, with the Saints taking seven of those 12 games and eight of the 14 total games between the teams so far this season. In today's series finale, Mike Burrows will take the mound for his first career start against the Saints and sixth outing (fifth start) in Triple-A this season. Countering for St. Paul is Cole Sands, who is 0-1 with just one run allowed in 8.0 innings across two starts against Indy this season.

BACK FROM THE FUTURES: Mike Burrows will take the mound for Indianapolis today in his first start back after appearing in 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on 7/16 in Los Angeles. He took the fifth frame for the National League squad and fanned Minnesota prospect - and Saints infielder - Spencer Steer without allowing a run. He was the first player from Indianapolis to appear in the prospect-loaded contest since first baseman Will Craig in 2019. Burrows, who is currently rated as Pittsburgh's No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was promoted from Double-A Altoona to Indianapolis on June 16 following a stellar start to the season. Since, he is 0-2 with a 6.50 ERA (13er/18.0ip) and 19 strikeouts in five outings (four appearances) with the Indians. On 7/12 at Columbus, Burrows made just his second career appearance out of the bullpen and first since 2018, and fanned four batters over 2.0 perfect innings.

THIS DATE IN 1959: Left-hander Gary Peters tossed a no-hitter against Minneapolis at old Victory Field in a 5-0 Tribe triumph. He walked five and fanned four batters. It was the fifth no-hitter thrown in franchise history and the first of three tossed by a Indians pitcher in old Victory Field/Bush Stadium. Second baseman Jim Snyder, who later managed the Indians in 1976, saved the no-hit bid with a leaping catch on a line drive for the final out of the game.
