LAST NIGHT: After being no-hit on Sunday, the Indians hit .143 (4-for-28) with all of their hits coming via the home run en route to a 4-3 win over Toledo in Indy's home opener. Travis Swaggerty began the home run parade in the first inning with his second leadoff home run of the season, the first coming during the season opener on May 4 at Iowa. With two outs that inning, Will Craig hit his first long ball of the day. Toledo battled back to tie the game twice, but thanks to a go-ahead home run by Andrew Susac in the fifth and a game-winning home run by Craig in the seventh, the Indians took the six-game series opener.

CRAIG FOR TWO: After launching a career-high 23 home runs a year ago to lead the Indians, Will Craig logged his second career two-homer game on Tuesday night to lift the Indians over the Mud Hens. Craig's first multi-homer game came on July 20, 2018 (1) at Double-A Reading, when he went 2-for-4 with four RBI. His two home runs last night were his first of the 2021 season.

SWAGGERTY AT THE TOP: After beginning the season hot through his first two games, outfielder and Pittsburgh's No. 14 prospect (Baseball America) Travis Swaggerty has slowed down to a .263 (5-for-19) average, all of his games started in the leadoff position for the Indians. In 2019, Swaggerty spent 89 games in the first spot of Bradenton's lineup and compiled a .259 batting average (88-for-340) with six home runs and 26 RBI. Leading off for Bradenton, he hit .266 (46-for-173) with six extra-base hits, 21 RBI and 46 runs scored. Over his minor league career, he has appeared in 128 games hitting first in the lineup.

FOUR HITS, FOUR HOMERS: The Indians doubled their total of home runs on the season last night with four long balls to tie a single-game high dating back to 2019. Last season, the Indians hit four home runs in back-to-back games from July 13-14 at Columbus, beating the Clippers 17-5 and 7-4. The Indians currently rank tied for 11th in the Triple-A East with their eight long balls and are tied with St. Paul to pace the Midwest division.

(LACK OF) RISP: Outside of the four home runs last night, the Indians offense had no baserunners vs. Toledo. The Mud Hens pitching staff fanned nine batters and surrendered no walks or hit by pitches to keep the bases clear. So far this season, the Indians are hitting .114 (5-for-44) with eight RBI with runners in scoring position, both of which rank last among Triple-A East teams and 29th out of all 30 Triple-A teams. The only team below Indy with RISP in Triple-A is Albuquerque, which is hitting .103 (3-for-29) with five RBI in that situation.

BATTLE OF THE AVERAGES: Toledo (19th) and Indianapolis (20th) hold the two worst batting averages in the 20-team Triple-A East. Despite Indianapolis taking the first game of the six-game series with the Mud Hens this week, Toledo's lineup was more productive in logging base hits (8) than Indy's (4). Following last night's contest, Toledo and Indianapolis are the only two Triple-A East teams hitting below .200, with Indy hitting .152 (29-for-191) and Toledo hitting .199 (36-for-181).

STREAKING WITH STRIKEOUTS: The Indians pitching staff fanned 10 batters on Sunday for its sixth consecutive game with 10+ strikeouts, a feat that has never been accomplished to open a season in the Victory Field era. Indy's longest double-digit strikeout streak in 2019 was six games, occuring from July 11-16 with a total of 76 strikeouts in that span. So far, the Indians rank 11th in the Triple-A East with 69 batters fanned and have compiled an 11.79 strikeout per 9.0 innings pitched ratio. The 2019 club ended the campaign with a franchise-record 1,244 strikeouts, and the Indians are currently on pace to have 1,380 strikeouts on the season.

TOE TO TOE WITH TOLEDO: The Indians and Mud Hens finished tied for second in the International League West division following a tight 13-12 head-to-head series in 2019. The Indians took the first six contests between the two teams before Toledo went 6-3 in August to tighten the series to a one-game Indy lead. In 2018, Toledo played one less game than Columbus and Indianapolis and finished 0.5 games ahead with the division title. Indianapolis leads the series since 1988, 246-203 (.548), with a strong advantage in the Circle City (136-92, .596).

HOME SWEET HOME: The Indians returned to Victory Field last night for the first time in 619 days to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the park opening its gates in 1996. Throughout the past 25 years (beginning on July 11, 1996), the Indians are 925-756 at the corner of West and Maryland Street. The team's best home record during that time came in the first full season at the new ballpark, when it compiled a 49-23 record. The worst record came just a season ago, when the Indians went 32-38 with it's first sub-.500 home record since 2003 (35-37).
