Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (7-2-1-2) @ Utah Grizzlies (6-5-0-1)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME

WHEN: Monday, November 14, 2016 @ 9:00 PM

WHERE: Maverik Center - West Valley City, Utah

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight begins the fifth straight three-game set for the Thunder to open the season, as they visit the Utah Grizzlies for Monday Night Hockey. The Thunder enter the game coming off of a loss in the final three games in Idaho, where they split the series and picked up three of a possible six points.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Thunder's loss in Idaho on Saturday was just their first in regulation this season away from home. As a whole, Adirondack has collected six victories and 13 points in road games, both of which rank second in the league. The Thunder trail only the Toledo Walleye, who have skated to an 8-2-0-0 record in 10 road games to date.

DON'T TASE ME, BROD: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur continues to lead the offensive attack from the blueline, as he netted another assist on Saturday, which gave him five points (1-4-5) in three games on the Idaho trip. The 6-6 defenseman now has ten points (3-7-10) in eight games on the season, tops amongst all Thunder defensemen and tied for fourth league-wide. A season ago, Brodeur was tied with Patch Alber for the lead on the Adirondack blueline with 30 points (9-21-30).

MAC ATTACK: The Thunder got a goal from Captain Peter MacArthur in Saturday's 4-2 loss. The tally for MacArthur was his second of the season and his first since Adirondack's opening weekend in Manchester in mid-October. MacArthur now has six points (2-4-6) in ten games this season after he posted 36 (8-28-36) in 46 games after he joined the team midway through 2015-16.

TURN A FRASE: Thunder forward Dana Fraser collected a goal in his second straight games on Saturday, following his goal on Tuesday, November 1. The 5-11 forward, who had missed the previous four games with injury, has now collected three goals in eight games this season, already placing him one-third of the way to last season's total. As a rookie in 2015-16, Fraser netted nine goals and 19 points in 57 games.

MAKE LOVE, NOT WARD: Adirondack first-year forward Brian Ward also collected five points (3-2-5) on the Idaho trip, giving him eight goals and ten points on the season. Ward's eight tallies lead the Thunder and rank in a tie for second in the ECHL, first amongst rookie skaters. The St. Lawrence graduate has now scored a goal in seven of the Thunder's 12 games this season.

MASE ON THE CASE: Adirondack netminder Mason McDonald had the busiest outing of his professional career, as he helped earn his team a point with a career-high 41 saves on 44 shots on Friday. McDonald had previously faced a high of 27 shots in a game. The rookie goaltender now possesses a 4-1-2 record in seven starts to go along with a .883 save percentage and a 2.66 goals against average.
