THE FUEL REVIEW: The Indy Fuel have evolved into a resurgent hockey club at the most apropos time of the present 2016-17 ECHL campaign. Under the direction of Head Coach Bernie John, the men of the Fuel have halted their 7-game winless spell of 7(0-6-1) in grand style and grand fashion. Through a pair of consecutive extraordinary victories on back-to-back nights on the road in Alaska the past weekend, the galvanized Indy aggregation nation has climbed into the thick of the hunt in the fiercely-competitive, hotly-contested ECHL Western Conference Central Division standings. Through their initial 11-games of the current campaign, the Fuel have compiled an improving record of 11(4-6-1) totaling 9-points. As they embark on the latest new week of the season, the Fuel have attained their second 2-game win streak of the season with 3 of their 4-overall victories extracted through foreign ice warfare; 7(3-4-0). Indy's finest on ice has played 7 of its first 11-games away from home bay but will now play 7 of their next 8-games on home ice at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

FUEL FRONTIER FLOURISH: Returning home with a renewed triumphant energy and spirit through two consecutive victories in Alaska against an always formidable, contending Alaska Aces club, the Fuel actually launched the 3-game series in Anchorage on a somber note in a 5-1 Wednesday waterloo in game one. However, it was a far different tale to be told in games two and three on Friday and Saturday nights as the visitors prevailed in the latter pair of affairs in impressive fashion; a gigantic, dramatic come-from-behind 3-2 shootout success Friday before blanking the high-powered Aces attack the following night, 2-0. Friday night, Indy overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits and one disallowed goal to stake a claim to its first victory since opening weekend, October 15th, also on the road, in Cincinnati, 2-1. Anthony Beauregard and Matt Stanisz were the Fuel sharpshooters in regulation before Beauregard's second connection of the game earned the win in the showdown shootout. The Fuel were 3 for 3 in the shootout with Alex Wideman and Kevin Lynch also stoking strikes. One night later, Beauregard, again, was the major catalyst, delivering the game's first goal, Matt Rupert cemented the win with a late third period thrust while Jake Hildebrand posted his second victory in as many nights, registering his first-ever pro shutout with a dynamic 37-saves masterpiece in a 2-0 trumping of the Aces.

7 OF NEXT 8 DATES HOME: Having been alien ice warriors for most of the early season to this point, the Fuel upcoming schedule becomes quite a favorable one as they will be in action on their home ice for 7 of their next 8-dates at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Having starred at the U. of Alaska-Anchorage for 4-years before his advent to the professional ranks, the 6-2, 206lb forward played on Sullivan Arena ice for the first time as a member of the visiting opposition and made the most of it. In his club's masterful 2-0 shutout triumph Saturday night, he was the playmaker extraordinaire in arranging Matt Rupert's first goal of the season late in the third period to seal the victory verdict while pacing the club with 5-SOG and superb +2 rating.

MATT MAKING: Second-year defenseman Matt Stanisz has really begun to assert his presence both defensively and offensively in the Fuel's solidifying lineup. In his team's two triumphs in Alaska the past weekend, the former OHL standout with Barrie and Owen Sound and collegiate star at Carleton U., authored key, touch-in-the-clutch scoring points in each game. Friday night, in the third period, he uncorked a cannon shot which equalized matters at 2-2 to extend the bout into extra time; achieving a stellar +2 performance.
