This past week, the Royals suffered four consecutive losses for the first time this season.

The team completed a season-long eight game road trip with losses to the Cincinnati Cyclones at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH, on Wednesday (7-4) and the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, WV, on Friday (1-4).

The Royals then returned home for a pair on home ice, playing at Santander Arena for the first time in twenty-two days on Saturday, but suffering a 6-4 loss to the Manchester Monarchs.

On Sunday, in the team's only game of the year against the Atlanta Gladiators, the Royals coughed up a third period tie-breaking game winner with just three-tenths of a second left in regulation to fall, 7-6.

The four losses sustained this past week pushed the Royals record back to .500 (6-6-0-1) from a season-high four games over .500 (6-2-0-1) after the team's 5-3 win over the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, November 5.

The last time that Reading lost four games in a row was just about this same time of the year last season: November 20 - 27, 2015. (The Royals went winless for five straight in that sequence: 0-4-0-1, 11/20 - 12/05/15).

The losses in Cincinnati and Wheeling this past week closed out the team's season-long eight game road trip with a record of 4-3-0-1. Overall, Reading is 5-3-0-1 on the road this season.

The back-to-back losses on home ice to Manchester on Saturday and Atlanta on Sunday extended the Royals' home losing streak to three games (0-3-0-0). Overall, Reading is 1-3-0-0 through four games on home ice this year.

Reading lost three in a row on home ice twice last year: (i) 01/03 - 01/10/16; and (ii) 02/19 - 03/06/16. The Royals went five straight home games without a win (0-4-1-0) from February 14 until March 6, 2016, last season.

The losses this past week dropped Reading's record to 2-5-0-0 against teams from the Eastern Conference; and 2-3-0-0 against teams from the North Division.

In three of the four games played this past week, the opposition scored the game's first goal. Reading has given up the first goal in nine of the thirteen games so far played and compiled a record of 3-5-0-1 in those games, including 0-2-0-0 on home ice.

In Cincinnati on Wednesday, Reading fell behind 4-0 before mounting a comeback effort which drew the team within one (at 5-4) in the third period before getting pushed back down the stretch.

In Wheeling on Friday, after the Nailers struck first forty seconds into the second period, the Royals bounced back to tie the game at one forty-three seconds later. The two teams entered the third period tied at one, but the Nailers pulled away with three in the third to win.

Friday's game marked the first time this season that Reading has lost in regulation when entering the third period tied with the opposition (2-1-0-1).

Reading did score the game's first goal on Saturday against Manchester and actually held two leads in that game (albeit for a relative short- period of time) before the Monarchs were able to run off five of the last seven goals of the game.

Saturday's game marked the first time this season that Reading has scored first and not won the game (3-1-0-0).

On Sunday against Atlanta, the Royals dug a 2-0 hole before mounting a comeback effort that ultimately did give the Royals a lead (at 6-5 with 6:11 left in the game) before stumbling in the waning moments.

Both Saturday's loss to Manchester and Sunday's loss to Atlanta were 'blown lead losses'. Reading has suffered three BLLs this season. (The other was the 3-2 shootout loss to the Idaho Steelheads on October 28).

Out of the total 240 minutes of hockey played this past week, Reading only led for a total of 5:53 of game time, while the team trailed the opposition for a total of 139:03.

The Royals never led against Cincinnati on Wednesday (and actually trailed in that game for 56:23 of game time).

On Friday in Wheeling, the Royals were not able to gain a lead, either, and trailed in the game for a total of 14:46.

On Saturday against Manchester, Reading held two leads: (i) the first for 0:15 at 1-0; and (ii) the second for 0:34 at 2- 1; for a total of forty-nine seconds.

Reading trailed for a total of 21:02 in that game.

On Sunday, Reading held the team's only lead at 6-5 for 5:04; while the Gladiators led for a total of 46:52 in that game.

Although the Royals' offense was held to just one goal in Wheeling on Friday (which was the third time that the team's offense has been held to just one goal), the team still scored a total of 15 goals in the four games this past week, which is an average of 3.75 goals per game.

Overall, the Royals have scored a total of 47 goals in thirteen games, which translates into 3.62 goals per game average (eighth best in the league).

The Royals allowed a total of 24 goals in the four games last week, an average of six goals per game. Overall, Reading has averaged allowing 3.92 goals against per game which is 25th out of the twenty-seven teams in the league.

The worst team goals against average in Royals' team history was set by the 2002-03 club, which allowed 303 total goals against for a team GAA of 4.21 (which was dead last in the league that year). (The next worse was 3.82 GAA in 2009-10.)

Reading's team save percentage of .877 is second worst in the league to the Brampton Beast (.870). The best save percentage in the league belongs to Florida (.928).

The forty-one shots generated by the Royals in Sunday's 7-6 loss to Atlanta was a team season high. The sixteen shots taken in the second period was also a team season high.

Overall, Reading has averaged 32.92 shots per game which is eleventh best in the league.

The Royals give up on average 31.31 shots against, which is fourteenth in the league.

Reading's penalty kill gave up six power play goals against in eleven chances for the opponent with the man advantage this past week, which translates into a 45.5% kill ratio.

The Royals have given up at least one power play goal against in twelve of the thirteen games played so far this season.

Reading has given up two power play goals in five separate games this season (2-3-0-0).

Overall, the Royals are killing penalties at a 66.7% ratio (17 PPGA in 51 chances), which is last in the league.

At home, Reading's penalty kill has given up 8 power play goals against in 18 chances for the opposition. That is a 55.6% kill ratio.

The Royals' penalty killers did score a pair of short-handed goals this week: (i) Nick Luukko at 16:15 of the second period of Wednesday's loss in Cincinnati to make the score 5-2, Cyclones; and (ii) Ryan Penny at 2:11 of the second period in Saturday's loss to Manchester to make the score 2-1, Reading.

Reading has actually scored four short-handed goals (second most in the league) in the last six games.

Reading's power play went 3 - 10 over the past week, which included scoring on the team's only power play chance in Sunday's 7-6 loss to Atlanta.

Overall, Reading is scoring PPGs at a 22.9% clip (11 for 48), which is fifth best in the league.

Rookie Steven Swavely, who recorded his second multi-point performance of the season on Sunday (1g-1a), picked up at least a point in three of the four games last week-and has had at least one point in eleven of the thirteen games he's played as a Royal. He currently leads the Royals with thirteen points (5g-8a).

His five goals is tied with four other players for the team lead (Chris McCarthy, Olivier Labelle, Mike Pereira and Robbie Czarnik). Swavely's eight assists are tied for second most on the team with Mike Marcou for the team lead in that category.

Swavely is currently tied for the scoring lead amongst rookies in the league. His thirteen points also place him tied for eighteenth in the overall league scoring race.

Olivier Labelle recorded an assist in each of the two home games this past week. His helper on Saturday against Manchester was his sixth power play point of the season, which is tied for the league lead.

Robbie Czarnik is riding a seven game point streak (4g-3a).

Defenseman Nick Luukko has had at least a point in five of his last six games (3g-2a). He scored his first pro short-handed goal in Cincinnati on Wednesday; and he scored the Royals' sixth goal on Sunday to give the team it's lone lead of the day at 6-5 with just 6:11 remaining in regulation time.

Defenseman Michael Boivin had a rather auspicious debut for the Royals this past weekend, racking up back-to-back multi-point performances on Saturday against Manchester (0g-2a) and Sunday against Atlanta (1g-2a).

Matt Wilkins recorded his first multi-point performance as a pro in Saturday's loss to Manchester (1g-1a). His assist that night came on the short-handed goal by Ryan Penny.
