'Gades Get Busy after Christmas

The Richmond Renegades are 17-12-1 after going 0-1-1 last week. The ‘Gades are in a third place tie with Reading in the Northeast Division. The ‘Gades host Roanoke and Charlotte this week following a brief holiday break. Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 26 vs. Roanoke 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The fourth of 10 meetings and the third of five here. ‘Gades are 2-1 vs. the Express, 1-1 at home. Brad Church has five points vs. the Express. Jason Jaffray has four vs. the ‘Gades. Richmond is one point ahead of Roanoke in the Northeast Division.

Friday, December 27 vs. Charlotte 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The fourth of nine meetings and the third of four here. Richmond is 2-1vs. the Checkers, 2-0 at home. Lars Pettersen and Kerry Ellis-Toddington each have four points vs. the Checkers. Eduard Pershin and Kurt Seher have four vs. Richmond. Charlotte is 5-23 (21.7%) on the power play vs the ‘Gades. Clubs have combined for 24 goals in three games.

Saturday, December 28 @ Wheeling 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of three meetings and the ‘Gades only visit to Wheeling this season. Richmond was 1-1 vs. Wheeling last season and won their only visit to Wheeling. Nailers are coached by former Hampton Roads coach John Brophy. Nailers missed the playoffs despite 36 wins last year.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades five game home winning streak came to an end. The Generals shattered a 1-1 tie with three second period goals. Jay Murphy had two goals and an assist for the Generals. The ‘Gades racked up a season high 59 PIM. Alex Matieroukine scored two goals for Richmond.

Saturday, December 21 @ Greensboro LOSS 3-2 (SO)

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades suffered their first overtime loss of the season. Richmond gave up a season high 60 shots on goal. Marc Magliarditi made 58 saves. The two clubs combined for 100 shots. The Generals rallied to force OT after Richmond jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Chris Bell had a goal and assist for the Generals. Peter Hogan and Justin Plamondon scored for Richmond.

‘GADES NOTES: The Renegades are winless in their last three games, equaling their longest winless streak of the season. Richmond did snap a three game road regulation loosing streak with a 3-2 shootout loss at Greensboro Saturday. The ‘Gades five game home win streak ended Friday in a 6-3 loss to Greensboro. The ‘Gades ended an 0-40 power play slump with a power play goal Friday. Jon Zion returned from a call-up to Cincinnati of the AHL Friday. Jayme Filipowicz (St. John) and Brad Church (Cleveland) remain on AHL call-ups. Kerry Ellis-Toddington became the fifth ‘Gade to earn a AHL call-up when he was summoned to Cincinnati following Saturday's game. David Brosseau (out five games) and Milt Mastad (out 13 games) returned from injuries Friday. Jonathan St. Louis is on the 7-Day IR. Ryan Van Buskirk missed both games last week due to a concussion. The ‘Gades had three players (Lars Pettersen, Richard Pitirri, and Leon Hayward) suspended by the ECHL for their actions in the third period vs. Greensboro Friday. Richmond played Saturday's game against the Generals with only 13 skaters due to injuries, call-ups, and suspensions. The ‘Gades have played six of their last seven games short-benched. The 59 PIM racked up by the ‘Gades Friday is a club season high. The ‘Gades allowed 60 shots Saturday, the most since Toledo fired 62 at the ‘Gades last January. The ‘Gades and Generals combined for 100 shots Saturday. Marc Magliarditi made 58 saves, the most by a ‘Gades goaltender since Curtis Cruickshank's 59 vs. Toledo last year. Magliarditi stopped a penalty shot (the first in a ‘Gades game this season) from Greensboro's Mark Turner in overtime Saturday. He also picked up the first point by a Renegade goaltender this season with an assist. Peter Hogan has points in three straight games. The ‘Gades had three players picked for January's ECHL All Star Game: Jamie Herrington, Jon Zion, and Dan Lombard. Starting Thursday the ‘Gades play 20 games in 38 days. Richmond suffered their first overtime/shootout loss of the year in eight tries Saturday at Greensboro.
