Blades Streak Hits 10 after Weekend Sweep

The Florida Everblades defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots three consecutive times this past week and moved into a tie for second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division. With the three wins Florida extended their unbeaten streak to ten games (8-0-2) and their winning streak to four games. Florida defeated the Ice Pilots 4-3 in Pensacola on Friday night and swept them 5-4 and 4-2 on Friday and Saturday night at TECO Arena. The Everblades hit the road to take on the Greenville Grrrowl on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 PM. Florida then battles the Pee Dee Pride on Sunday at 2:30 PM in Florence, SC. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM, NewsRadio 1660 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM will not be aired tonight. The show will return next week.

UPCOMING EVENTS/PROMOTIONS AT TECO ARENA: On Saturday, December 28th and Sunday, December 29th TECO Arena hosts the 2002 Everblades College Classic Hockey Tournament featuring Cornell, Ohio State, Maine and Umass-Amherst. Face-off is slated for 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM on both days. On Monday, December 30th Champions On Ice visits TECO Arena. On New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31st the Everblades host Tux n' Pucks and battle the Columbus Cottonmouths at 7:30 PM. For tickets to any of these upcoming events please call 334-3309.

Friday, December 27th @ Greenville 7:05 PM/EST

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Grrrowl will meet for the fourth time this season. Florida holds a 2-0-1 record against Greenville this season and a 2-0-1 record in Greenville. Greenville currently ranks in 4th place in the Southeast Division standings while Florida ranks tied for 2nd place in the Southeast. Florida holds a 19-11-1 record all-time against the Grrrowl and a 11-6-2 record in Greenville. Greenville forward Jonathan Roy leads the team in scoring with 16-17-33. Florida goaltender Rob Zepp is currently ranked first in the ECHL in goals against average with 1.98 and second in the ECHL in save percentage with a .934 SPCT. The Grrrowl power play ranks 15th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 12th.

Sunday, December 29th @ Pee Dee 2:30 PM/EST

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Pride will meet for the seventh time this season. Florida holds a 3-2-1 record against Pee Dee this season. Pee Dee and Florida are currently tied for second place in the Southeast Division standings. Florida holds a 15-17-3 record all-time against the Pride and an 0-2-0 record in Pee Dee this season. Forward Matt Reid leads the team in scoring with 13-28-41. He is tied for eighth place on the ECHL scoring list. The Pride power play ranks 16th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 17th.

Friday, December 20th @ Pensacola 4-3 W Ryan Murphy scored two goals and Laurent Meunier scored one goal and assisted on another as the Florida Everblades defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots 4-3 in front of 3,255 at the Pensacola Civic Center

Saturday, December 21 vs. Pensacola 5-4 W

The Florida Everblades (14-6-7) edged the Pensacola Ice Pilots (14-10-4) 5-4 in front of a crowd of 6,347 at TECO Arena on Saturday.

Sunday, December 22 vs, Pensacola 4-2 W

The Florida Everblades (15-6-7) defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots (14-11-4) 4-2 for the third straight night in front of a crowd of 5,981 at TECO Arena on Sunday night. With the win, Florida moved into a tie for second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division. Florida forward Joe Blaznek scored one goal and picked up an assist in the win.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward Laurent Meunier. The Grenoble, France native registered two goals and two assists this past weekend and had a +3 rating. Meunier was given the first star of the game after he notched the game winning goal in Sunday night's 4-2 victory.

ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL goaltender of the week nomination is Rob Zepp. The Newmarket, Ontario native was 3-0-0 this past week. Zepp stopped 61 of 70 shots in the three wins.
